Across the pond, part two: Two places worth the trip

Brian met up with me in Islington last Saturday and took me on a tour through his lovely neighborhood, and then further, past London Fields, to Violet, where an expat is turning out scones, Victoria sponge, quiches, and wonderful salads and sandwiches. The house specialty is a line of cupcakes, which I didn’t try, but I’m sure taste as good as they look. (London seems to have picked up the cupcake disease from NYC; it’s a bloody epidemic in Ol’ Blighty.)

The Fat Duck is that good, I am happy to confirm. My favorite course: The Sound of the Sea.
