Crispy pig tails and crustaceans

I got to tag along for the 5 Ninth 3rd anniversary dinner on Monday night, and the main attraction was

Which either very quickly became truffled scrapple, braised shoulder, poached loin + seared loin, fried ham + egg, and roasted pig tail with green apple jam or else his friend was also sacrificed to the cause. Roasted pig tails are off the hizzook. They’ve all the delicious qualities of pork crack but with fun gristly meaty bits to gnaw on as well.

And yesterday, I got to crash a

crawfish boil. Drank some Abita, ripped maybe 40 tails off these guys (a shame they don’t have much else in the way of edible parts, though I scooped out the meager brain offerings from a few), stopped off at Momofuku Ssam for a post-crawfish throwdown banh mi and mochi ice cream snack and went home very satisfied indeed.
