we welcomed fall a couple nights ago with some pan roasted quail and toaster oven-roasted root veg and cavolfiore. thanks to carla’s foresight and resourcefulness, we even had parsnips! (which italians — at least up here — don’t eat or grow, sadly.) (and yes, ordinarily, we’d tuck those legs in and make the birds a little tidier looking, but sometimes one can’t be bothered. and they’re much more amusing this way.)
and what is it about these little guys that inspires so much mischief?
