tim and i just got back from a little trip up to the culinary institute of america and the area around the catskills. i took some pictures. the CIA is a pretty fuckin’ cool place. our trip, however, was beset by all sorts of obstacles: tim almost lost his train ticket, we got locked out of our hotel room, the korean hotel lady remonstrated us for waking her up at 1am and treated us like hooligans (“everybody here is nice people. we no want trouble.”), the rental car’s battery died at the CIA, the weather was rainy and nearly freezing, and the caterina de medici restaurant was only serving their al forno menu at lunch because of three banquets going on that day. but we’re okay. and we had ourselves a pretty good time.

oh yes, and we spent the trip listening to the shins’ new album (did you see james, marty & gang on the front page of the arts section in the times on wednesday?), “chutes too narrow”. i lovelovelove it already. especially track #5, “saint simon.”
